Tie dying, rain sticks and drama

Today was co-op day. It was our first day with this group and we had a great time. DD 13 loved her drama class - not surprising at all. Her class tie dyed a shirt (she also made one for her Dad) and made a jump rope out of rubber bands. The projects took a bit longer, so no gym for her this time. DD 8 had fun practicing basketball skills in gym class, learning about molecules, making a tie dyed shirt and a rain stick. I made a shirt for DS.

The rain stick was a great project that I would like to share. We have made smaller ones in the past, but this one was made with a larger postal mailer. She hammered nails in all over it...so they criss crossed one another. Next, she filled it with beans and rice and sealed the ends. Then, she put wood grain contact paper on it and tied a braid with beads on one end. It turned out really cool.

We took the tie dyed shirts in plastic bags on our weekend trip up to the Twin Cities. I am anxious to see how they turned out...hopefully my Mom won't mind me washing them in her washer. :-)
